Rama

Biography

Dramatic drums, tight ticking basslines and fast moving melodies: the sound of Rama originates from the italodisco and spacesynth tradition, spiced up with the influences of the European dancefloor and the late 90's trance movement. Rama, real name Markku Raski, has gathered production experience more than 30 years and is still going through various styles and projects under his own Ramamusic imprint.

Besides of writing different styles of electronic dance music, Rama is also a singer and a performer. Numerous shows together with MC Licia throughout Finland have given the 90's festival audience the feel of what it is all about in an energetic eurodance live show.

"Light My Fire", the biggest Rama hit so far, is having its 25th anniversary in 2021. The song, produced in classic eurodance style and originally performed by Markku's sister Merja Raski and the Bomfunk MC's lead man Raymond Ebanks, wrote Finnish disco history in the spring 1996 by spending several weeks at the peak position in the official Finnish Dance Chart. Now, for the quarter century celebration, Rama has released a renewed version that features MC Licia as a female rapper and Markku performing the iconic vocals by himself.
